About TradeSoftwareLab

What This Site Is

TradeSoftwareLab is an independent software review site for blue-collar business owners. We help pest control operators, HVAC technicians, landscapers, plumbers, and other trade professionals find the right software for their business.

We are not a software vendor. We don't sell software, we don't take payments for placement, and no vendor gets to review our articles before publication.

How We Review Software

Our evaluations draw from multiple data sources, always disclosed:

  1. Verified user reviews. We read 30-50 reviews per product on Capterra and Software Advice, identifying recurring themes in what users praise and complain about.
  2. Vendor documentation. Pricing pages, feature lists, knowledge bases, and demo videos from the software company's own website.
  3. Hands-on testing (where available). For products with free trials (GorillaDesk, QuoteIQ, Jobber, Housecall Pro), we test the software directly. For sales-gated products (FieldRoutes, PestPac, ServiceTitan), we rely on verified reviews and public documentation — and we always say so.
  4. Industry forums. Reddit discussions, trade forums, and operator communities where real users share unfiltered opinions.

How We Make Money

TradeSoftwareLab earns commissions through affiliate links. When you click a link to a software product and sign up, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. This is how the site supports itself.

Important: Rankings are based on user review scores, feature analysis, and price-to-value ratio — not on commission rates. A product with a lower commission rate will rank higher if it serves users better. Every article carries a disclosure statement.

What Makes Us Different

  • We don't pretend to be operators. We're researchers and analysts, not pest control business owners. We tell you where our information comes from so you can verify it yourself.
  • We read the bad reviews. Most review sites skim the surface. We read the 1-star reviews just as carefully as the 5-star ones — because complaints reveal more about a product than praise.
  • We flag what we don't know. If a product's pricing is opaque, if independent reviews are thin, if we couldn't test something ourselves — we say so.
  • We focus on contracts and lock-in. The software industry counts on busy owners not reading the fine print. We read it for you.

Who Runs TradeSoftwareLab

TradeSoftwareLab is run by an independent publisher who also operates online calculator sites and other web projects. The site was launched in 2026 to fill a gap in the market: there are very few independent, in-depth review sites for blue-collar business software.
